The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival that falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Thisfestival has a history of over 2,000 years. It is to commemorate the death of Qu Yuan, a famous Chinese poet and statesman.
During the Dragon Boat Festival, except hold the dragon boats race, we eat "zongzi"， which are glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves and filled with various fillings such as pork, beans, and egg yolk. Other customs include hanging calamus and wormwood leaves on doors and windows to ward off evil spirits, and drinking realgar wine, which is believed to have medicinal properties.
The Dragon Boat Festival is a time for family reunions and cultural celebrations. It is a time to remember and honor the traditions and legends of Chinese culture, and to enjoy the festive atmosphere with friends and loved ones.
